6 Nights/7 Days in Havana!

“Mi gente! Familia! Amigos!

Welcome to Havana, where the music is always playing, the rum flows like a good conversation, and every meal is prepared with soul! I cannot begin to tell you what this moment means to me. For the first time in my life, I am stepping foot on the island that my grandparents once called home. I was born in Miami, raised on stories of Cuba—the rhythms, the flavors, the fire of the kitchen—but until now, I had only imagined it. Now, I get to live it.

Cooking has always been my way of connecting with my roots. It started in my Abuela’s kitchen, where I learned that food is not just about ingredients—it’s about love, tradition, and sharing a piece of yourself with those at the table. It’s that same spirit that I bring here with me, and I couldn’t be more honored to share this experience with all of you.

This week, we’ll eat like Cubans, drink like Cubans, and most importantly—laugh, dance, and embrace the hospitality that makes this country unlike anywhere else. And I’m thrilled to do it alongside one of Cuba’s finest, Chef Alberto Gonzalez, who brings his Michelin-starred magic to the table. Together, we’re going to take you on a journey through flavors that have been passed down for generations—flavors that tell the story of Cuba.

But for me, this is more than just a culinary adventure. It’s a homecoming. I’ll be meeting family I’ve never met, walking streets my grandparents once walked, and discovering a piece of myself that’s been waiting here for me all along.

So, let’s raise a glass—un buen ron, por favor!—to new experiences, to unforgettable meals, and to the beauty of Cuba, a place that welcomes everyone like family.

¡Salud! Let’s get cooking!”    Abrazo, Chef Nick

The Itinerary

Day 1

As the plane touches down at José Martí International Airport, the warm Cuban air greets you with the promise of adventure. After clearing customs, a private driver awaits, ready to whisk you away into the heart of Havana. As you settle into the comfortable ride, the city begins to reveal itself—vintage cars in brilliant colors cruise alongside, while grand colonial buildings, some elegantly restored and others beautifully worn by time, line the bustling streets. The rhythm of Havana is immediate, a city alive with music, history, and an undeniable energy.

Your destination is Tribe Caribe Boutique Hotel, an intimate and stylish retreat that blends modern comfort with Cuban soul. Upon arrival, you’re welcomed with a refreshing cocktail and guided to the rooftop terrace, where the panoramic view of Havana unfolds before you. As you check in and get acquainted with your surroundings, laughter and conversation flow effortlessly—this is just the beginning.

As night falls, the group sets off for a dining experience at Al Carbón, one of Havana’s most renowned restaurants. The moment you step inside, the atmosphere draws you in—walls adorned with eclectic art, the scent of slow-cooked meats wafting from the kitchen, and the excitement of live music filling the space. This is the creation of Chef Iván Justo, a culinary visionary who welcomes guests like old friends. He has prepared a feast that honors Cuba’s rich traditions while elevating them to new heights, with every dish kissed by the open flames of the charcoal grill.

With each bite and every shared toast, the spirit of Havana takes hold. The laughter, the flavors, the music—it all blends into a perfect introduction to the days ahead. This is more than just an arrival; this is the beginning of an unforgettable journey.

Day 2

As the morning sun rises over Havana, the city awakens with a rhythm all its own. Today, we dive deep into Habana Vieja, the historic heart of Cuba, where every street tells a story, and every corner hums with music, history, and life.

We begin our day with a guided stroll through the cobbled streets of Old Havana (Habana Vieja), a UNESCO World Heritage Site that transports us through centuries of history. Our journey takes us past Plaza de la Catedral, where the grandeur of Havana’s iconic cathedral sets the stage for the day. We wander through Plaza Vieja, a vibrant square lined with colorful colonial buildings, boutique shops, and lively cafés.

As we weave through the narrow alleys, we pause to admire the beautifully restored buildings, vibrant street art, and the soulful melodies of street musicians playing traditional Cuban songs. Along the way, we might step into a hidden courtyard, where the scent of freshly brewed Cuban coffee lingers in the air.

A Havana tradition—our first lunch always belongs to Chacón 162, and today is no exception. This cozy, modern eatery is home to our dear friend, Chef José Héctor, who welcomes us like family.

And what’s on the menu? A Cuban Sandwich, made by Cubans, in Cuba. A simple yet perfect masterpiece of crispy Cuban bread, slow-roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard, pressed to golden perfection. But today, it's even more special—this sandwich has been created exclusively for us! As we sip on chilled daiquiris or an ice-cold Bucanero beer, we savor the flavors of Cuba in every bite.

Returning to the hotel, we have time to rest, enjoy a cigar on the rooftop with great Cuban rum or talk to the locals about their city.

Tonight, we step into a world where art, culture, and cuisine collide in the most extraordinary way. Hidden in the heart of Havana, CocoBlue y La ZorraPelua is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Owned by José Fuentes, a brilliant sculptor who transforms recycled materials into breathtaking works of art, the space is a feast for the senses. Every piece tells a story, every sculpture has a past, and tonight, we become part of its ever-evolving narrative.

As we arrive, Rita McNiff, José’s partner, greets us warmly. A true Havana story, Rita came to Cuba nine years ago and never left—a tale we’re eager to hear as she shares the magic that captured her heart.

Tonight’s feast is a special collaboration between Chef Nick and Michelin-starred Chef Alberto, united by their passion for Cuban flavors and culture. Alberto, a great friend, enjoys sharing and learning with American chefs. Tonight, history is made as a Cuban-American chef joins a Cuban chef in Cuba to create an unforgettable meal!

The night unfolds with live music, the rhythmic beats of Cuban sounds and salsa filling the air as we toast to new beginnings, old friends, and the adventure that lies ahead. This is our first Havana party, and if tonight is any indication—this trip is going to be unforgettable.

Day 3

This morning, we embark on an extraordinary cultural experience at Habana Compas Dance, where the renowned percussionist Eduardo Cordova will take us on a rhythmic journey like no other. His masterful fusion of Afro-Cuban beats with contemporary dance creates an electrifying performance, blending tradition and modernity in a way that is both powerful and mesmerizing. As his dancers move to the music he crafts, we will witness firsthand how percussion is more than just sound—it’s a form of storytelling that pulses with the spirit of Cuba. A poignant and inspiring way to begin our day.

From the energy of dance and music, we shift to the heart of sustainable agriculture at Finca Marta, where we meet Fernando Funes Monzote, the visionary behind one of the most advanced agricultural farms in Havana. His pioneering approach to organic farming has not only transformed the land but also revolutionized food production in the region, supplying top restaurants and hotels across Havana. As we walk through the lush fields, Fernando will share insights into his innovative growing techniques, the challenges of sustainable farming in Cuba, and the vital role his work plays in strengthening the local food supply chain. This visit offers a deeper appreciation for the connection between the land, its people, and the culinary world we are about to immerse ourselves in.

There is a new Chef in town named Raulito Bazuk who has opened a restaurant in the Vedado section of Havana in his mother's mansion! With nothing but 5 Star reviews,  Raulito's restaurant, Grados, is the defender of the traditional Cuban cuisine rescued from the Mambi books and stories, paired with a unique style of preparation and presentation. A quiet and plesant place, outdoors surrounded by greenery and indoors under the dim light where you can also enjoy the select melody that Grados has chosen for our experience.

Prepare to be captivated, inspired, and utterly delighted.

Day 4

Start your day with a visit to the iconic Finca Vigia, Hemingway’s residence from 1939 to 1960. Perched on a hill overlooking Havana, this beautifully preserved home offers a unique glimpse into the life of the legendary author. As we explore this historical landmark, we’ll see firsthand the spaces where Hemingway lived, wrote, and entertained, with its stunning views and fascinating collections. Finca Vigia was a place Hemingway truly cherished, and you’ll feel the history that still lingers in every corner.

For lunch, we’ll head to Muraleando, a vibrant Lawton community project that celebrates Cuban art and culture. Muraleando is more than just an art tour—it’s an immersion into the creative heartbeat of the city. As we walk through the colorful murals, we’ll learn about the local artists and their work. Afterward, you’ll enjoy an authentic Cuban lunch, prepared with fresh, local ingredients. This is a chance to taste the soul of Cuba through its cuisine while also supporting the local artists who make Muraleando a true gem of Havana. Here we will be entertained by their fabulous house band and learn a few Salsa steps at the same time! Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before; it’s all about having fun and embracing the Cuban spirit!

This afternoon, you’ll have some free time to explore Havana at your leisure. Take a taxi to Old Havana, where you can wander the cobbled streets, visit charming cafes, and discover hidden gems. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a scenic walk along the Malecon, Havana’s famous waterfront promenade, where the sea meets the city in a stunning display of colors and sounds. The choice is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

As the sun sets, we prepare for the culinary pièce de résistance—an exceptional cocktail party at Social 1916, a beautifully restored historic home owned by our dear friend Nerea Vera. During the evening, Nerea will personally take us on a tour of her home, sharing her passion for its meticulous restoration and the stories woven into its walls. Chef Nick will delight us with aperitivos fabulosos while we enjoy amazing cocktails made with Eminente Rum, an exquisite, premium Cuban rum that embodies the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Cuba’s renowned rum-making tradition. Created by César Martí, one of Cuba’s youngest and most skilled Maestro Roneros, Emimente blends depth, elegance, and complexity.

A live band will entertain us throughout the evening as we continue on our path of excitement and enrichment in Havana!

Day 5

The day begins with a fascinating journey back in time as you step into the Revolutionary Museum, housed outside from the grand former presidential palace in Havana. This historic building is filled with vehicles used during the Revolution in 1959 to 1962.  Our knowledgeable guide, Elier MacKenzie, offers captivating insights into the revolution's key moments and figures, providing a rich context for Cuba's tumultuous yet transformative history.

After immersing yourself in Cuba’s revolutionary past, the next stop is an intimate meeting with renowned artist Milton Bernal. Milton has perfected a unique technique of painting with tobacco leaves, and today, you’ll have the rare opportunity to watch him work. As he explains his process, you'll learn about his artistic journey and the significance of his materials. His paintings are not just works of art—they are a fusion of nature and culture, each leaf telling a story of Cuba’s heritage. Milton will offer you a demonstration, and you’ll be able to ask questions, gaining a deep appreciation for this innovative method of expression.

Following your encounter with Milton, it’s time for lunch at ChaChaCha in Old Havana. This vibrant restaurant, with its lively ambiance, invites you to savor a taste of Cuban tradition. You’ll enjoy dishes like Ropa Vieja, a flavorful shredded beef stew, or fresh seafood that speaks to the heart of Cuban cuisine. With cocktails in hand and the energy of Old Havana around you, the meal feels like a celebration of the island’s flavors and rhythms.

In the afternoon, the pace slows down, and you’re free to return to your hotel for some much-needed relaxation. You can indulge in a personal massage, arranged by the concierge, to unwind after a busy day. Alternatively, head up to the rooftop to bask in the warm Cuban sunshine, enjoying panoramic views of the city while sipping a cool drink in hand. It’s a peaceful moment to soak in the beauty of Havana at your own pace.

As evening falls, the day culminates with a memorable dining experience at Tribe Caribe. Chef Daniel, known for his culinary innovation, will treat you to a specially crafted menu that showcases the bold, fresh flavors of the Caribbean. Each dish is a work of art, harmonizing local ingredients with contemporary techniques. As you enjoy your meal, the live music creates an unforgettable atmosphere, filling the restaurant with the sounds of Cuban jazz, salsa, or perhaps a touch of traditional Cuban rhythms. The music and cuisine blend seamlessly, offering a perfect end to a day of history, art, and culture.

It’s a day that captures the essence of Havana—rich in heritage, alive with artistry, and filled with the vibrant spirit of Cuba.

As the sun rises over the Caribbean, you'll be greeted by a gentle breeze and the promise of a perfect beach day. After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you'll make your way to the beautiful community of Tarara, just a short drive away. There, a private house awaits you—an idyllic retreat just steps from a pristine, private beach. Feel the warmth of the Cuban sun as you step onto the soft sand, with the sparkling turquoise waters stretching out before you.

The house, a charming haven by the sea, is your base for the day. The hotel staff will prepare a delicious, traditional Cuban lunch for you—fresh, vibrant, and full of local flavors—accompanied by an open bar to keep your glasses refreshed as you relax by the beach. The rhythm of the ocean sets the perfect backdrop as you gather around for a friendly, competitive game of dominos. Laughter and conversation flow as the hours drift by in the easygoing Cuban pace.

In the afternoon, it's time to rest and recharge back at the hotel. Take a moment to unwind, freshen up, and prepare for a truly unforgettable evening.

The tour provides the perfect opportunity to soak in the culture and history of Havana in style.

The evening culminates with a stop at Espacios Restaurant, where you’ll indulge in mouthwatering pizza, a comforting treat that’s beloved around the world but made with a Cuban twist. The air is filled with the sounds of Big Bros, a talented Cuban band that delivers the perfect blend of American Classic Rock & Roll. The music fills the air, and before you know it, you’ll be on your feet, dancing along to the familiar songs that have now taken on a unique Cuban rhythm. There’s something magical about hearing these iconic tunes sung by Cuban musicians—it’s a celebration of both cultures coming together in harmony.

As the night winds down, you’ll have one last chance to reflect on the amazing experiences you’ve shared and the incredible memories you've made during your time in Cuba. The laughter, the music, the food, and the moments of connection will stay with you long after the trip ends.
